The most important point to understand about Woodbury politics is that we don't have political parties.
At least not in the conventional sense where there are Republicans and Democrats putting forward opposing candidates and positions with smaller, independent parties representing other views.
What we have, instead, are candidates who are controlled by Ralph Caruso and those who aren't.
And there are people wearing all different party labels in each of these camps.
As noted before, The Republican Party, the Conservative Party and the Preservation Party are directly controlled By Ralph and the Democratic Committee is controlled by a union of Ralph's puppets and Manny Mangual's puppets (which is to say, Ralph's puppets once removed).
So who stands against Caruso?
Honest members of both major parties and honest independents.
For the Village Board there are Republicans Michael Queenan, Tom Flood and Tim Egan.
For the Town Board there are Democrats David Sutz and Michael Essig and Republican Tim Arone.
The largest problem may be those people who don't know the truth about Woodbury and will just vote their party's slate.
Let your neighbors know the facts.
Vote the candidate, not the party!

From what I've read, this is a Ralph Caruso and allies bashing site. Yes, it's a blog and subject to opinions, but I caution readers to beware -- not everything you read or hear is true. Some of the people doing the bashing haven't even lived in town long enough to know what's really going on. Do your homework and get both sides of the story, something this blog does not give you. Vote based on facts, not on what your friend, Facebook, Uncle Betty or anyone else tells you. Be informed!
ReplyDeleteI have to disagree. This is blog surprisingly accurate. Which is sad.
ReplyDeleteI love this blog and find it essential. Really.
DeleteThere are some indisputable facts that are not bashing.
ReplyDelete1) The 2005 election was the last one with any opponent running against John
Burke. Why in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013 did the Republicans not run a
candidate? Mr. Caruso ran for County Legislator, for Village Mayor, but
neither he nor the Republican Committee of which he was chairman all
those years, ran any one for Supervisor against Mr. Burke. So people had
no choice.
2) Does it not seem strange that after not running in any of the above elections, suddenly after Mr. Burke's unexpected passing, Ralph Caruso gets the urge, the motivation, the desire to immediately run for Town Supervisor. But this time, the Democrats offer no candidate to oppose Mr. Caruso. And when David Sutz seeks their endorsement, they say no with the excuse that he is an independent.
3) Mr Caruso and his allies control the Republican Committee who in turn decides who gets endorsed and who does not. In fact, this year there are a few people wishing to run and get on the Committee, but they are not approved by Mr. Caruso. People gathering signatures for Caruso's people tell residents that those opposing Caruso are not "true Republicans" because they do not support Caruso. Since when?
4) Party Committee members are suppose to support their party's candidates and yet over the years, party members have actually put campaign signs for the other party's candidates in their yards. If you are a party member and cannot support your party's candidate, at least you should remain silent and not put the other party's candidates' signs in your yard. But Republican Committee members put Democrat John Burke's signs in their yards and Democratic Committee Burke put Republican Hank Sullivan's signs in his yard. These are only 2 examples.
This is not bashing. These are proven facts. And you really believe all of this is a coincidence? You really don't believe that the 2 parties are working together behind the scenes to control elections? Really?
Do you know what I find really scary is someone that wants all this power reminds me of the Supervisor in the town next to us. Does Harley Doles ring a bell? He holds all this power in Monroe and look at what is going on over there.
ReplyDeleteKeep preaching to the choir.
