We've heard from Swiller the Pieman that he asked Ben Meyers, editor, publisher and reporter for the Woodbury Gazette, why he printed an article by Caruso's Ankle Biter attacking Tim Arone in the final issue before the primary without giving Arone the opportunity to respond.
Ben had two interesting, if utter bullshit, things to say.
One, he said it's not an article, it's a letter
Two, he said it didn't attack Arone.
This is what Meyers normally calls a letter.
It's on a page labeled "Opinion" and, like all letters, it's signed at the bottom.
This is what he calls an article.
It's on the "Community" page and the writer has a byline at the top.
So what's this?
As to whether this so called "letter" did or didn't attack Arone.
It totally misrepresents Arone's vote to move the Highway Department to the village, ignoring that this was made necessary by the creation of the Village, which Caruso and Siebold scared us into doing with false claims that it would prevent annexation.
It also claims that Arone voted against putting "a policy and procedures in place that would have restricted town department heads from spending unlimited amounts of your taxpayer money."
Actually what he voted against was Caruso's attempt to take power from the full Town Board to oversee expenditures and to give that power to himself alone.
It was one of many votes by the majority of the board to prevent Caruso from giving himself total power over the town.
This is the real reason Caruso wants to replace Arone with a puppet who will do whatever Boss Ralph says (as Prestia does already).
Bear in mind, Ben Meyers was Caruso's running mate when they tried to take over the first Village Board.
The Gazette may be many things: useful, free, occasionally informative.
Honest it ain't.

Of course Ralph controls this paper. Ralph controls the GOP committee, Preserve Woodbury, Citizens for Preservation of Woodbury along with the Democratic committee. The only thing Ralph does not have is a TV station. Maybe he should call Cablevision and ask for one.
ReplyDeleteDear Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteI am afraid that I have to correct you. You are not giving Ralph enough credit.
You left out the fact that he controls the town's Conservative Party too.
Hey Uncle thanks for that correction how could we all forgot about the Conservative Party. If Ralph did get his own TV station I wonder how much Cablevision would charge for that and how many people would sign up for it. My guess is 10 people would sign up for it. Whats your guess Uncle?
ReplyDeleteOnce Ralph bcomes King he'll make watching mandatory.
ReplyDeleteDon Siebold mentions that village taxes will go up but forgets to mention that the town taxes will go down respectively. (or should). Don Siebold is the one who was electioneering just outside the legal limits with a big sign on the roof of his car proclaiming we should vote for the village. Which means he advocated for a form of government that traditionally features a DPW with an appointed department head. So,why the change? Oh Don and Ralph wanted it because they thought that Ralph and crew would be in control and that would be one more thing to control. And we all recognize that he stops the sentence at the point where it suits his need, just like any other thug. And Don does not have the mental capacity to argue coherent points which is why he will bully people. Now he is nothing but a has been rat who wants to be important. The only place that happens is in "Ralph world" , land of the Ideologue oppressors.
ReplyDeleteAnother thought: why do we have a FULL TIME SUPERVISOR for a PART TIME JOB? How is that saving money Don? The only thing the town controls is ONE DEPARTMENT(police) and sorry to say, it is one that should be independent.
If this wasn't so frightening, it would be funny. or maybe if it wasn't so funny it would be frightening....
ReplyDeleteIf one checks addresses, they will find that Don Siebold and Ben Meyers are and have been neighbors for years. One should read the Gazette realizing how deeply tied the editor, Mr. Meyers, is to Caruso and crew. And there are members of the Democratic with strong ties to Caruso as well. For years, it was Caruso's plan to run the Republican Party and control the Conservative and Democratic parties from behind the scenes.
ReplyDeleteThere is a saying that too much power in the hands of a few is a dangerous thing. Beware because there is a real move to concentrate that power, control over both the Town and Village Boards, in the hand of one person.
It is interesting how Lynn Prestia has changed her votes this past year to always agree with Mr. Caruso. She never votes against any position he takes and always defends him. A perfect puppet.
ReplyDeleteTake a look at the minutes in January and you will see that Lyn voted with Ralph on the procurment policy change that he wanted to do. Lyn voted for the procurment policy the past 3 years so why the change of heart Lyn?
ReplyDeleteIf you noticed that every letter but one written in support of Doc and Lyn are people from the Woodbury GOP committee. I guess they are the only people in town that think they could do a good job.
