In response to "Anonymous" (clever name that) who posts under the entry Who'd A Thunk It:
The town code does, in fact, specifically say that members of the Beautification Commission serve at the pleasure of the Town Board, not the Supervisor.
And yes, the Supervisor does have to consult with board members on every single thing that the law says he must consult with them. That's because he was elected supervisor not emperor.
So Ralph, stop whining that you don't run things. Maria isn't Town Queen and neither are you.
I think it might be Maria Hunter who's acting as Town Queen. Where in the town code does it say how to get rid of beautification commission members? It the town supervisor has to consult with board members on every singe thing that comes by him every day, nothing of substance would get done. Get over your ralph-hating views!

Responder is correct that the Town Supervisor is basically one of 5 board members and must get approval for most actions, including appointing commission members. The Town's law is on line and can be checked.
ReplyDeleteIf the Supervisor was more than just one board member, he would have a weighted vote, but he doesn't. The Supervisor runs meetings and does not
have to be full time, although in Woodbury he/she has been for many years.
Mr. Caruso seems to have a power/control problem. At the very first meeting, he wanted approval of all purchases over a much less amount than has been accepted for years and by many former supervisors. Guess he needs to read the Town Law book.
