This Monday, February 2, unless snow intervenes (always a major possibility), Woodbury is about to have its first ever Preliminary Board Meeting.
"What's that?" you ask.
Well, it's pretty much just a plain old work session, but with a brand new name, which Ralph hopes will justify the expense of having it on TV.
You see, up until now it was felt that since work sessions are generally quite short, and since Jeff, the town videographer, is paid for a minimum of three hours, it didn't seem like a good use of town funds.
But Ralph feels that there is no point in doing anything unless the teevees show him doing it.
Doesn't he know how awful he looks on tv?
ReplyDeleteShhhh! Don't tell him.
ReplyDeleteAnd he made such a big fuss at the first meeting about having to approve any expenditure over $1,000 because "he was so concerned about the taxpayer's money". What a joke.
ReplyDeleteI recall attending meetings years ago, when they were first televised, and it was clear that Caruso and his followers simply wanted TV time. They seldom attended untelevised meetings. I recall once that a whole pack of them were at a televised meeting, waiting for their air time. When the camera broke, they got up and left the meeting before it ended as they would not be seen and heard.
There can be no doubt that Mr. Burke and Caruso worked together because this gang did not come to meetings and speak out. Watch attendance now at
work sessions which nobody attended. Once the cameras roll, they will appear for their TV appearance.
Guess Woodbury is in for its own Unreality show.
Yep. It's all about being seen. Caruso loved being on television when he was on the ZBA a few years back. Always dominated screen time even when he was demoted from chairman.
ReplyDeleteHope someone tracks how much this extra televising is costing the taxpayers
for fiscally responsible Caruso to have more screen time.
